Match Report – League Fixture

Old Tiffinian’s Reserves Vs Actonian’s Association 5ths

First game of the new season, Tiffs coming in off a strong and promising pre-season. However, could they put it into match practice.

There was a great pre-season friendly between these two teams 5 weeks prior which ended in a 2-1 Tiffs win. Actonian’s won their league the season prior and bring excellent football to the league, challenge is on.

14:00hrs the sun beams down at Grist’s Fortress, Tiffs ready for the challenge, el capitano is nervous on the side lines. Needed suncream to combat the paleness.

Match kicks off, great start from both teams, football is flowing all over the pitch. Tiffs beginning to really grow into the game. Sean G picks up the ball in the middle of the park, drives towards goal before playing the perfect pass out left. In comes Harry LJ, first time with that Bale like left foot, across the keeper into the bottom corner. What a goal. Tiffs are off and running!

Tiffs continue to put the pressure on, throw in on the left. Up steps Mr Brazil himself Dan H. Rifles a long throw into the box. Who needs Kayode when you have Dan H. Straight onto the head of Will F who nods home for 2-0. Half time.

Second halves are where games are the true test. And so it begins (insert Theoden meme).

Actonian’s have stepped up the pressure, creating chances however the defence are holding strong and clearing everything. After soaking up all the pressure. Tiffs further their football with Sean G playing another great ball and there is Mr Top scorer for many seasons. Ash BR to slot it home.

Tiffs keep calm, continuing to play their football, enjoying the occasion. Actonian’s remaining impressive and a challenge, throwing players forward trying to get back into the game. However, Tiffs use this to their advantage, going down the other end on attack. Sean G with a delicate headed through ball and on sweeps Adam C, debutant, slotting home. The fans go wild. El Capitano over the moon. 4-0 to Tiffs.

Actonian’s work the ball well over the top, try to play is across and it strikes the hand of Prash, in a natural position. Referee does not seem to think so. Sadly, no VAR for this one. Penalty consolation for Actonian’s and it finishes 4-1.

El Capitano incredibly impressed, happy and proud of all. Despite not being amongst the goals, the standout player for the week. Ran absolutely riot on the wing. Untouchable. Had the opposition talking about how good he was when he came off. Player of the Match. Corey.
