Match Report – League Fixture
Old Tiffinian’s Reserves Vs Tenisons 3rd
Another home game. To be expected, the league knows that any hint of water and Grist’s is called off. A big one already for the start of the season. A glance at the league table has Tiffs in 1st and Tenisons in 2nd only on goal difference.
13:00hrs this time, cloudy but still warm El Capitano cannot get the jumper collection out just yet. Will Tiffs rise to the challenge against a tough opponent.
The game starts quick from both teams, chances at both end with teams going close. The battle is on. Then comes the first moment of brilliance. Ash wins the header in the middle getting it through to Sean G. Takes it in his stride quick step over. Outside of the box left foot finish into the bottom corner. Finish. 1-0.
It does not stop there. The football is silky; the confidence is strong and so is the defence. Monster defensive header from George. The ball is through to Kieran; he steps inside with it and slots it home beautifully. 2-0.
Tenisons are not giving up though, they continue to fight, balls into the box, cleared time after time by Jon and Prash. Think those two could stop and invading army. Incredible defensive shape from Tiffs, working the ball nicely and it is picked up by Sean G. Driving at their defence. Perfect through ball to Corey and he is onto it like a flash. Straight in. 3-0. HT.
We all know that games can change after half time, the next goal is so important. First attacking play from winning the ball back, it’s through the middle, flicked on by Ash, flicked on by Sean G and Corey is onto it again. Lightning pace. Some say he is the fastest at the club. Slots it home again 4-0.
There is no stopping these two. Next thing you know, Corey is in again. Plays a ball into the box. Tenisons defence do not deal with it. Sean G on the half volley. Keeper gets a hand however not enough to stop it. 5-0.
Dylan wins a freekick on the left side after some amazing footwork. Up steps Prash to take. There are questions on the bench why the CB is taking it. El Capitano echoes, trust the left foot. In goes the cross, it is perfect, up leaps Sean G. Jump so great he could also play basketball. Flicks the header into the bottom corner. Hat-Trick! The fans go wild on the side. 6-0.
Changes are made, Tenisons get a break, the ball is played out wide. Offside shouts. Play on. Works it across for a tap in. A well worked goal. 6-1. A post-match review of the footage however shows a clear offside. Oh well. One day it will be in Amateur football.
This does not stop Tiffs though – throw in on the left-hand side and you know it. Mr Brazil himself steps up with an absolute rocket that flies into the box. Their defence cannot deal with it but there’s Dylan back post to slot it home. 7-1.
The football remains great; the one touch pass being displayed beautifully. El Capitano has time and space to chest the ball down in the middle of the pitch. Absolutely brilliant control. Sadly, it was not captured on the camera to show you all. Speaking of brilliant. Josh B in the middle. Gets past the attacker. First time ball over the top and Kieran is on it driving at the keeper. There is a swing and a miss from their keeper which has Kieran clean through to slot it home for 8-1. FT.
A truly exquisite performance. The perfect Hat-Trick, right foot, left foot, header, the player of the match. Sean G.
