A Captain’s Comment

A weekend of mixed fortunes, proud of the players who turned up and played there parts in what was a hopeful but in the end a disappointing loss, and improvement on a previous battle in similar circumstances last year but no doubt a game we could have taken something from.

On that note the game at Old Whitgiftian brought a few memories back this weekend, it marked a renewal in our fortunes last season with a number of new players who have now gone on to pastures new and sense of a rebirth. From that game on things improved and the 5’s finished the season strongly.

The nine who started the match deserve credit and especially Dusan for his man of the match performance in very draining circumstances. Thank you to others also who could help the other clubs out as mentioned elsewhere it is a club not a team.

So we go forward with two home games and welcome the first of the two Dorkinian teams in the league to Grist in what will be a test of our strength and resistance as well as our reliability and patience.

I have set a number of standards in place for the following week, I expect them to be followed and I hope the team take it on board.

Let’s hope for an improvement.
