Old Tiffinians Vets 3-4 Old Latymerians Vets

This away fixture saw us coming closest to our first win of the season. We started brightly and two well taken goals from the wealthy, wine bar owner Simon Baile and the tricky, nippy Ricci Evelyn saw us gallop into a 2-0 lead and the opposition beginning to look very shaky. Shaun Elliot then rounded the keeper only to narrowly miss from an acute angle which I think would have been game over.

However, then injuries began to disrupt our play. The razor sharp Nigel pulled himself off and was quickly followed by our midfield playmaker Ian Soderfeld. We conceded a goal and the confidence return to Old Latymerians. Just before half time they levelled the score when a shot was too hot to hold for the barrel-chested and barrel-bellied Paul Cottee.

On the resumption we then conceded two more as we made more changes to our established team. However, we continued to have the majority of the play and continued to press hard. We were rewarded with a third goal and the final minutes were played out mostly in the Latymer penalty area but we failed to capitalise and so eventually were defeated.
