Old Tiffinian’s 4’s vs Civil Service – Double Header

With several postponed fixtures still to be squeezed into the schedule, Old Tiffinian’s 4’s faced a demanding Saturday double header away against Civil Service. Two games, six points up for grabs, and plenty of running required — a dangerous combination for a squad that had only recently remembered what regular football felt like.

Game 1 (A) – Strong Start Sets the Tone
Tiffs wasted no time getting going in the first match. Fast out of the blocks, they quickly took control and were rewarded with two goals from Sean, both well taken, before Tony added a third to give the hosts a commanding 3–0 lead at half time.

The second half continued in much the same fashion. Tony added another with a tidy finish, while George got himself on the scoresheet after some well-worked attacking play. Then came perhaps the most interesting goal of the afternoon — a “strike” from Mack that looped perfectly over the goalkeeper. Officially recorded as a shot, although some witnesses remain… unconvinced.

Civil Service managed a late consolation, but the damage had long been done.

Full Time (Game 1): Old Tiffinian’s 6–1 Civil Service

Game 2 (H) – Tired Legs, Same Outcome
With the second match kicking off shortly after, a few Tiffs players were already starting to feel the effects of the double header. Fortunately, the goalscoring form carried over nicely.

Once again Tiffs raced into a 3–0 half-time lead, this time thanks to a clinical counter-attacking display. George opened the scoring before Tony grabbed two more well-taken finishes.

The second half started a little slower as tired legs began to show, but the highlight of the game soon arrived. Mack, clearly enjoying his afternoon, stepped up to take a corner… and somehow managed to curl it directly into the net. The kids apparently call that an “Olympico.”

Civil Service again grabbed a late consolation goal, but it did little to spoil an excellent day for the “visitors.”

Full Time (Game 2): Old Tiffinian’s 4–1 Civil Service

Two games, two wins, and six well-earned points for Old Tiffinian’s. A strong attacking display across both matches, plenty of goals to go around, and perhaps most importantly — a much-needed rest week now awaits.
