Ruislip Rangers 6-1 OTFC Vets Is

(2-0 HT)

West London Veterans Football League

Division 2

Match Report:

We were toe-to-toe for 40mins. Playing really good football. John Owens was a big threat bringing the ball out from defence (is that what modern coaching calls an inverted defender?).

We needed to get that first goal. We really need that first goal gents.

Conceding two quicks goals at the end of the first half did us. After that, it felt like we lost a bit of belief and they had their tails up. They also had like a hundred subs which they rotated on and off, so they were always fresh and moving around. And we were leggy. Which wasn’t surprising given for a few it was the first game for months (90 minutes is a long time). That, together with only 1.25 subs ultimately told.

But, looking on the upsides, we competed well at the start of the game. Great having Fuse, Cruzy and Greg in. Josh still talking the hind legs off any and all passing donkeys. We’re not going to have to travel to Ruislip again.

It’s a long season. We have got a very good squad and we need our best players to start playing regularly. And we’ll do well. We need a BIG turn out for next week and an even BIGGER performance that we know we’re capable of.
