Cometh the hour cometh the man…

Saturday 8 December, the hour was 2pm, the man was Mr Luke Peake

Sidelined early season through injury, Luke has had to take a back seat working his way back to fitness and getting his touch back right. Midfield has been loaded in recent weeks, Luke has not played a full 90 for some time.

Beating on the door for an opportunity, begging at times… “Please Dicky, give me that shot I deserve, let me play in the back three… I won’t let you down boss”.

Dicky has managed to resist this is recent weeks, instead choosing to bring up from the academy teams. This week however Peake felt confident.

“Lads, come on in, lets go through the team… in goal – SEB, at the back – DICKY, OLLIE, LUKE…”

An internal fist pump, a wry smile, this was his chance, this was his hour.

The bright orange boots took him forward for a purposeful stroll out to the pitch, Peake would not be beaten, not today.

The referee’s whistle went indicating kick off… the next 90 mins will forever go down in the history books..
