OTFC Is 6 - 2 City of London I

Old Tiffinians 6-2 City of London FC

T Scott – 4
B Robertson – 1
T Ridgeway – 1

Stop the press… The Purps have picked up a huuuuge 3 points at home against City of London FC. It was a nostalgic return to winning ways for a side who have been a proverbial listing ship since turning over Old Pauline on match day 1. Some familiar faces returned to a rejuvenated line-up. Messrs Ridgeway, Sam Lewis, John Owens and Tom Wightwick (who was showing signs of over-indulgence in a high carbohydrate Mediterranean diet) returned and provided invaluable experience and nous. Tiffs used the wind to great effect in a high-pressing first half – with Tom Scott converting with a glanced header from a pinpoint Matthews dead ball.

Scott added a sensational second from a delicate Bruno centre to send the delirious Old Tiffinian home side into raptures. Scott completed his hat trick from another move down the left involving Sam Lewis and Steve Goodings before Bruno weighed-in with a 4th. The Ts barely knew what was going on when Tom Scott added an unlikely 5th before half time to make the half time team talk an unusually positive one.

Tiffs relaxed for a second half into the wind and were helpless as Seb fumbled in a soft header. City of London grabbed a stylish second consolation before Ridgeway heralded his return to the round ball game with a well taken goal after a tubby Tom Wightwick caused chaos on the edge of the D.

A hard-earned and stylish win for a beleaguered XI… Who surge up the table to second bottom in preparation for a successful 2015.
