OTFC IIIs v Brent II

21st September 2019

Brent II 12 - 2 OTFC IIIs

After a long summer and some difficulties across the club with numbers, the 3s stepped out in Brent ready to go for a 13:30 KO. Ah, two players are running late, just the nine of us for now. Yikes, it’s bloody hot and the ground is pretty dry. It’ll be tough.

Brent kindly agreed to delay our kick off, yet we started with ten. It was always going to be difficult. An early shot went through Rose’s hands to make it 1-0, a questionable penalty against Tom Marshall and a very unfortunate own goal from Marian Vrabie meant we went in to the break 8-0 down and already game over. All we could do was win the half and score a couple of goals.

Within two minutes of the restart, Brent scored an absolute beauty to make it 9-0. A tough day at the office. We responded well. Welcoming back Dan Allen and Ibrahim Diakite up top, we pushed for goals. Both strikers going close with a handful of VERY clear cut chances (fines recorded). We pulled one back through Ibra which was celebrated like an equaliser. After some exceptionally hard work down the right, Allen smashed the ball across goal and it took a deflection to turn it in for our second.

Final score: Brent IIs 12 Old Tiffiinians IIIs 2

A real battering, and that’s why the match report is so short. We will wait two weeks for our next fixture against Sutton to kick off our league season. At least we can concentrate on the league now.
